Highly attractive ruffled leaves with strongly contrasting centres and some of the best eating qualities of any kale. Even the leaf ribs are sweet tasting and crisp. Can also be used as cut-and-come-again baby leaves.

Indoors, March-May, 0.5cm (1/4") deep in pots of seed compost. Keep moist and warm, a temperature of approx. 15C (60F) is ideal. Transplant 5cm (2") apart to other trays when large enough to handle. Gradually harden off and plant out 45cm (18") apart.Or outdoors, April-September, 1.5cm (1/2") deep into finely prepared soil. Keep moist. No thinning is necessary if only baby leaf is required. For mature plants thin out to 45cm (18") apart. Regular sowings made every 2-3 weeks will ensure a continuous supply. Keep well watered.
