Mr Fothergills Celery Green Sleeves

Almost stringless pale green flesh, great crunch and flavour. Easy to grow, stands well and is slow to bolt. High in fibre.

Indoors March to May. Sow 0.5cm (¼") deep in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a cold frame, greenhouse or on a cool windowsill. A temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Transplant seedlings to other trays, 5cm (2") apart, when large enough to handle (Always handle by a leaf, never by the stem). Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out, 25cm (10") apart, May-June, into rich, well dug soil. Allow 30cm (1') between rows. Water well. Harvest: August to November.
